Problem: Vulnerable road users, namely two-wheelers and pedestrians, remain at-risk of collision with multi-wheeled vehicles despite numerous safety products such as on-board lighting, broader awareness of communication techniques like hand gestures, and infrastructure accommodations such as designated lanes. How can infrastructure-to-x standards enable two-way proximity awareness in mixed-use environments?
Solution: In partnership with Flex Ltd., my team developed Angel Eye, the ‘intersection guardian’ for spotlighting danger areas of road junctions. Angel Eye analyzes real-time roadway camera feeds to preëmpt collisions. Just-in-time broadcasting of light, sound, and radio enhance awareness of vulnerable road users and vehicles. Beneficiaries of Angel Eye’s data and broadcasting include real estate, insurance, law enforcement, infrastructure, and advertisement.
